Online casinos offer thousands of games. That variety is exciting but can be overwhelming if you are new. This guide explains the main game types, how they work, and what makes each one interesting. Consider it your starting point for exploring.

Slots

Slots are the most popular casino games by far. Spin the reels, hope for matching symbols, and see what happens. No decisions to make, no strategy to learn. Just pick a game that looks fun and start spinning.

Video Slots. The modern standard. Five or more reels, multiple paylines (or ways to win), and features like wilds, scatters, free spins, and bonus rounds. Themes range from ancient civilizations to space adventures to branded tie-ins with movies and TV shows.

Classic Slots. Three reels, simple symbols, straightforward gameplay. Fruits, bars, and sevens. If you want uncomplicated spins without elaborate features, classics deliver.

Jackpot Slots. Progressive jackpots that grow with every bet until someone wins. The pools can reach life-changing amounts. Mega Moolah and similar titles have made millionaires.

Slots have different volatility levels. High volatility means bigger wins but less often. Low volatility means smaller wins but more frequently. RTP (return to player) tells you the theoretical long-term return, usually between 94-97%.

Blackjack

Blackjack is the most player-friendly table game. Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Simple concept, but there is depth if you want it.

You start with two cards and decide whether to hit (take another card), stand (keep what you have), double down (double your bet, take one card), or split (if you have a pair). The dealer follows fixed rules, which means there is mathematically optimal play for every situation.

Learn basic strategy and the house edge drops below 1%. That makes blackjack one of the most favourable games in the casino. You can play for hours on a reasonable bankroll if you play smart.

Roulette

Roulette is pure chance with a social atmosphere. A ball spins around a wheel and lands on a number. You bet on where you think it will land.

Bets range from specific numbers (35:1 payout) to broader outcomes like red or black, odd or even (1:1 payout). Inside bets pay more but hit less often. Outside bets hit more often but pay less. No strategy changes the odds.

European roulette has a single zero and a 2.7% house edge. American roulette adds a double zero, pushing the edge to 5.26%. Always choose European if both options exist.

Baccarat

Baccarat looks intimidating but is actually one of the simplest table games. You bet on whether the Player hand, Banker hand, or a Tie will win. That is literally it. Cards are dealt according to fixed rules with no player decisions.

The Banker bet has the lowest house edge at around 1.06% (casinos take a 5% commission on wins). The Player bet is 1.24%. The Tie bet pays 8:1 or 9:1 but carries a 14%+ house edge, making it a poor choice despite the attractive payout.

Poker Games

Casino poker games pit you against the house, not other players. They use poker hand rankings but follow different rules than Texas Hold'em.

Video Poker. Solo play against a machine. Get five cards, choose which to hold, draw replacements, and get paid based on your final hand. With optimal strategy, some video poker games return over 99%.

Casino Hold'em and Caribbean Stud. Table games where you play against the dealer. Make decisions based on your cards and partial information about the dealer's hand. More strategic than pure chance games.

Other Table Games

Craps. Dice game with numerous betting options. The pass line bet has a 1.41% house edge. The excitement comes from the social atmosphere and variety of bets.

Sic Bo. Asian dice game using three dice. Bet on totals, combinations, or specific numbers appearing. House edges vary widely depending on the bet.

Live Dealer Games

Real dealers stream from professional studios. Blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and game show titles like Crazy Time and Dream Catcher. The same games, but with human dealers and social interaction. See our live casino page for more details.

Finding Games That Fit

Different games suit different moods. Slots are effortless entertainment. Table games reward learning. Live dealer games add atmosphere. Try a few categories and see what clicks.

Whatever you play, set limits and stick to them. The house always has an edge. Treat gambling as entertainment with a cost, and you will have a better time.
